Overview
In a world that is increasingly focus on anti-sexism and equality, it’s important to approach the topic of highlighting gender differences with sensitivity and inclusivity. Let’s start by agreeing that every client, male, female, non-binary or other is a unique individual, and that a talented personal stylist will want to be agile and adaptive, without wanting to stereotype any client.
While this is true, and without wanting to make assumptions, many male clients still report wanting a more practical approach to service delivery. Stylists need to check in with clients to find out take a practical approach to shopping, with an emphasis on functionality, good fit and comfort with a stylish appearance over trends aesthetics and a luxury fashion shopping experience.
Attracting a community of male client bookings, Stylists must communicate with them in a language which appeals, understanding possible gripes and issues faced by men in need of shopping – after all, you are the style solution to their problems! One aim of this training therefore is to put you in the headspace of the men’s style industry, understanding how to charge for this solution.
To personalise your styling advice to any man, you’ll learn how to style men’s physique types and men’s body measurements, including how to take accurate measurements and how to select clothing that fits each client’s unique physique.
This training aims to immerse you in the men’s fashion industry too, from Men’s fashion weeks, designers and brands, from the runway to Savile Row tailoring!
Brand knowledge is also essential, drawing on different brands to understand their styles assortment and offering for different target audiences so you can recommend specific brands and products that will work well for each individual client with confidence.

This training is suitable for intermediate to advanced level and requires some coursework.
PLEASE NOTE: a prerequisite of this course if that you must have completed the Personal Styling Women’s Diploma, because we will not cover in detail the beginnings of how to carry out clients assessments, wardrobe edits and personal shops which follow a similar format, only how to differentiate them for men.
You will need to have a competent understanding of spoken and written English (IELTS level 6 or equivalent).
You must be over 18 years old. The course assumes a moderate level of digital literacy including how to use web browsers, search engines, word processing software (e.g., Word, Pages) and engagement with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Pinterest). Access to a laptop or tablet is advised, although the course can also be accessed by smartphone.
Student Finance
